LLOYD BRIDGES SET TO STAR WITH SON JEFF IN MGM'S 'BLOWN AWAY'

SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Teaming two generations of one of Hollywood's great acting families, veteran actor Lloyd Bridges has been set to star opposite his son Jeff in MGM's action-thriller "Blown Away."
"Blown Away" is the suspense-filled story of a police bomb squad expert (Jeff Bridges) who is racing against time as he matches wits with an ingenious bomber (Tommy Lee Jones). The elder Bridges will portray the retired leader of the squad and Jeff Bridges' mentor, who puts his own life on the line in an effort to help his friend.
One of the industry's most highly regarded actors, Bridges was most recently seen reprising the role of Tug Benson in the hit sequel "Hot Shots! Part Deux." In addition to starring in the original "Hot Shots," he starred in the earlier blockbuster spoofs "Airplane" and "Airplane II." He has previously appeared on screen with son Jeff in "Tucker: A Man and His Dream," and includes among his many other film credits "Honey, I Blew Up the Baby," "Joe vs. the Volcano," "The Winter People," "Cousins," and such early classics as "A Walk in the Sun" and "High Noon." On television, he was Emmy-nominated for his work in the film "Tragedy in a Temporary Town," and has also starred in such notable projects as "Roots," "East of Eden," "The Thanksgiving Promise" and "The Great Wallendas." He also has several series to his credit, but none more identified with him than the classic "Sea Hunt."
Directed by Stephen Hopkins ("Predator 2," "Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child") from a screenplay by Joe Batteer and John Rice, "Blown Away," is being produced for MGM by Trilogy Entertainment's John Watson, Pen Densham and Richard Lewis ("Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," "Backdraft"). Lloyd Segan will executive produce.
"Blown Away" will begin principal photography on Aug. 23 on location in Boston.
