LIVING CENTERS APPOINTS TWO VICE PRESIDENTS

 HOUSTON, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Living Centers of America, Inc. (NYSE: LCA), announced today the appointments of Susan Thomas Whittle as vice president, general counsel and secretary and Bill M. Wooten to the position of vice president operations-DevCon.
 Whittle, 45, will be responsible for the legal, general liability and risk management, safety, and insurance functions for Living Centers. Whittle was formerly a partner with the Austin law firm of Clark, Thomas, Winters & Newton for two years and for 10 years with the firm of Wood, Lucksinger & Epstein, also in Austin. Whittle specializes in administrative and health care law. She received her J.D. from St. Mary's University of San Antonio Law School in 1980 and her bachelor's degree in education from The University of Texas at Austin in 1970.
 Wooten, 46, will oversee the company's DevCon segment With 62 locations and 1,472 licensed beds, Living Centers-DevCon is one of the largest providers of services to persons with mental retardation and developmental disabilities in the United States. Prior to joining Living Centers of America, Wooten was executive vice president and chief operating officer of VOCA Corporation, a large multi-state provider of health services. Wooten received a doctorate degree from Columbia Pacific University in organizational psychology in 1981, a master's degree in mental retardation from Mankato State University in 1979, and a bachelor's degree in psychology and social work from St. Cloud State University in 1974.
