 LITTLETON ELECTED VP-MANUFACTURING OF GENERAL SIGNAL
 STAMFORD, Conn., Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- General Signal Corporation


(NYSE: GSX) announced today the election of Darryl A. Littleton to the position of vice president-manufacturing. Edmund M. Carpenter, chairman and chief executive officer, said, "In his newly created post, Darryl will work closely with our units in continuing to focus on the operating efficiency and productivity of General Signal."
 Littleton has been a senior partner and director since 1984 of Ingersoll Engineers, Inc. (Rockford, Ill.), a leading manufacturing consulting firm. He was employed from 1982 to 1984 as manufacturing engineering manager for Warner Electric Brake & Clutch Co. and prior to that held various manufacturing positions with Emerson Electric Company from 1971 to 1982.
 Littleton, 42, holds a bachelor of science degree in industrial technology from Moorehead State University and an M.B.A. from Northern Illinois University. He and his family will be relocating to the Connecticut area.
 General Signal Corporation, with 1991 sales of $1.62 billion, is a leading manufacturer of equipment and instruments for the process control, electrical, semiconductor and telecommunications industries.
