LITT PROMOTED TO DUPONT FELLOW

WILMINGTON, Del., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Gerald J. Litt, who earlier this year was awarded a coveted Lavoisier Medal for Technical Achievement, today was promoted to DuPont (NYSE: DD) Fellow, one of the company's highest levels of professional recognition for scientists.
He will continue at his position as technical leader of product development at DuPont NEN in Boston.
"Jerry is very accomplished and broadly recognized for his expertise and professionalism in the field of diagnostic chemistry and methodology," said Donald B. Rogers, research vice president for DuPont Imaging Systems, Medical Products and Electronic Materials. "He also is an effective counselor and mentor of younger professionals in our medical diagnostics community."
Litt was one of three winners of the 1993 Lavoisier Medal, which is DuPont's highest honor for career technical achievements by scientists and engineers.
He is among 26 currently active company employees to hold the title of DuPont Fellow.
Holder of a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical chemistry from Rutgers, he joined what is now DuPont NEN life science research products in 1965 and within four years became R&D director of the radiopharmaceutical division. Among his many technical accomplishments, he invented the system still used to generate and collect the most widely used radionuclide in nuclear medicine, helped develop a line of products for breast cancer management, and developed two HIV antigen assays for the detection of exposure to the AIDS virus.
