LITEL ANNOUNCES WORLDCARD, SIGNS ENHANCEMENT AGREEMENT
WITH EXECUTIVE TELECARD, LTD.
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- LiTel Telecommunications Corporation today announced its newest service for business travelers -- WorldCard -- that will allow holders to place direct dial calls to virtually anywhere in the world from any touch tone phone in 28 countries. LiTel's WorldCard will be enhanced with Executive TeleCard, Ltd.'s (NASDAQ/NMS: EXTL; PHLX: XTL) international calling service.
The direct-dial system is accessed by way of a toll-free number in each country, which allows the LiTel WorldCard holder to avoid the exorbitant surcharges imposed on international calls placed through overseas hotel switchboards.
LiTel WorldCard holders will avoid language problems because Executive TeleCard's audio response software automatically prompts users in English in every country in which the service is available. Additionally, the new international service provides operator assistance to LiTel WorldCard holders for placing calls back to the United States from 53 countries.
"This service is not available to AT&T, MCI and US Sprint customers," said Executive TeleCard's President William V. Moore. "Executive TeleCard has signed agreements with LiTel and a small number of regional long distance carriers."
For LiTel WorldCard subscribers to the new international calling service, there is an annual fee of $9.95. The annual fee, as well as all use of the new service, will be billed directly by LiTel.
"It is essential that LiTel provide its customers who are busy international travelers with the most efficient and economical means to communicate while doing business abroad," said Thomas J. Wynne, LiTel president and chief operating officer. "The LiTel WorldCard provides that necessary service."
