LITEL, AMERITECH SIGN AGREEMENTS IN THREE STATES

LITEL, AMERITECH SIGN AGREEMENTS IN THREE STATES
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- LiTel Telecommunications Corporation today announced that it has signed three-year billing and collection agreements with three Ameritech Bell companies -- Ohio Bell, Indiana Bell and Michigan Bell.
The agreements provide billing and collection services by the local exchange carriers for several of LiTel's basic telecommunications services including a residential service, the details of which will be released shortly.
"These agreements allow LiTel to provide residential customers with simplified billing," said LiTel President Thomas J. Wynne. "LiTel's new residential service is planned to be very simple to use and economical. The LiTel customer will write just one check each month to their local Bell operating company for both local calls and their long distance usage. Our goal is to please each customer with their overall long-distance service -- when they place their calls and then pay for them each month."
"The long experience of Ameritech and its Bell companies to provide quality billing and collections will help LiTel to insure its residential users a higher level of customer satisfaction," said Joshua H. Funt, LiTel's director of residential services.
"We're pleased to provide a cost-effective billing service that will help LiTel enhance its services to our mutual customers in Ohio, Indiana and Michigan," said Walt Catlow, vice president of access services for the five Ameritech Bell companies.
When a LiTel customer places a long distance call, an electronic record of the call is generated. LiTel will take that record and rate the call, then send it to the appropriate Ameritech company and the call will appear in the LiTel section of the Ameritech Bell company's bill.
"If a Columbus customer of both LiTel and Ohio Bell makes a long distance call from their home to a friend, that call will be placed on their Ohio Bell monthly bill at LiTel rates," Funt explained. "The joint billing arrangement is a customer benefit and it allows LiTel and the Ameritech Bell companies to utilize economies of scale for greater efficiency. This arrangement benefits everyone."
LiTel expects to implement the billing and collection procedures next month.
