LISTED VENTURES INTERNATIONAL OBTAINS OPTION TO ACQUIRE INTEREST IN COMMAND PERFORMANCE NETWORK

EDMONTON, Alberta, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Bernard Davies, chairman of the board of Listed Ventures International, Inc. (Alberta Stock Exchange: LSV), announced today that LSV has obtained an option to acquire a 70 percent interest in Command Performance Network Canada (CPNC), and a 25 percent interest in Command Performance Network, Inc., U.S.A. (CPN), a Delaware corporation.
Upon exercise of the option, and subject to regulatory approval, LSV will assume certain obligations totaling $1 million (Cdn.) and issue common shares and warrants to give the transaction a total value of approximately $7 million (Cdn.). Currently, both CPNC and CPN are closely-held.
Also coincident with exercise of the option, CPN's president, the internationally recognized television innovator Robert J. Wussler, will join the CPNC board. Following a long and distinguished career at CBS Sports and CBS Television, Mr. Wussler embarked on an 11-year career at Turner Broadcasting, where he was a key force in developing Superstation WTBS and was a founder/organizer of the CNN and TNT networks. He also was the general manager of the award-winning telecast of the Goodwill Games from Moscow in 1986.
Mr. Wussler founded Command Performance Network in the United States to provide a complete range of interactive television programming, which experts predict will be a reality in the home as early as 1994. And in Canada, the Canadian Radio, Television and Telecommunications Commission's recently publicized call for open competition and the formation of programming funds paves the way for the emergence of interactive television there.
The CPN president said that the company and CPNC are arranging through their investment bankers the establishment of a $200 million (U.S.) fund to finance the acquisition of programming for both CPN and CPNC.
"In both Canada and the U.S., CPN is driven by the concept of `one channel to the home,'" said Mr. Wussler. "Channels as we know them today will no longer exist and instead will evolve into `on-demand libraries,'" Mr. Wussler added.
"Our name, Command Performance, truly describes what this network will offer in this new era: the best in film, television, video entertainment, sports, news, educational and other information programming -- all via interactive services that let you see what you want to see, when you want to see it," Mr. Wussler said.
The developing interactive T.V. market will bring with it unsurpassed opportunity and major changes in entertainment and education and in such industries as consumer electronics, programming, advertising, regional and long distance telephone companies, computer hardware, software and semiconductor companies.
Newsweek Magazine, in a May 31, 1993, article entitled "Interactive", quoted Bell Atlantic Corp. executive Arthur Bushkin in delineating the size of this market: "This is not about a 25 billion dollar cable market with a 12 billion dollar video rental market. We're talking about hundreds of billions of dollars," Newsweek quoted Mr. Bushkin as saying.
