LINKON RECEIVES $9.6 MILLION CONTRACT FOR ITS FC3000 COMMUNICATION BOARD
NEW YORK, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Linkon Corporation (NASDAQ: LKON) today announced the receipt of a $9.6 million contract from Stentor Speech Products of Belgium for its FC3000 Communication Board and Software. Deliveries are to start immediately and continue for 24 months.
Linkon is expected to report sales of approximately $5.3 million for the fiscal year ended Jan. 31, 1992. This agreement will fulfill the need of Stentor to deliver advanced feature communications processing systems for many large applications throughout Europe.
Patrick Kane, Linkon Corporation's chief operating officer, indicated that Stentor Speech Products reviewed the product offerings of Linkon's competitors and found Linkon's technology to be superior. The European nations have a very low availability of touchtone service (approximately 20 percent); therefore, speech recognition capabilities are required in their communications processing equipment to provide true interactive service.
The Linkon FC3000 Communications Board will provide Stentor Speech Products with touchtone capabilities for the 20 percent market sector that can utilize these features. In addition, the Linkon product is designed to provide speaker independent speech recognition with word spotting. This technology permits the user to make selections by vocalizing commands in their native language. The text-to-speech for interaction with large external data bases also provides the capability to have FAX and E-Mail messages read to the user via remote access in a communications mail application.
Linkon Corporation manufactures a complete line of hardware and software for the communications processing industry. Linkon's products are offered through VARs (value added resellers), OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and SIs (system integrators).
