LINEAR TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION TO BUILD WAFER FABRICATION FACILITY IN CAMAS, WASHINGTON

 MILPITAS, Calif., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Linear Technology Corp. (NASDAQ-NMS: LLTC), a leading independent manufacturer of high performance linear integrated circuits, today announced its intention to build a semiconductor wafer fabrication plant in Camas, Wash. Construction is planned to commence in 1994 with manufacturing production beginning in 1996. The initial investment would be $25,000,000 potentially growing to $85,000,000 over a six- to 10-year period. It would initially employ roughly 80 people growing to over 300 people.
 According to Robert H. Swanson, Jr., president and chief executive officer, "This new wafer fabrication facility would be a major step in our development. We studied several potential sites and are pleased to locate in Camas, Wash."
 Linear Technology Corp. recently announced completion of the 1993 fiscal year in which sales were a record $150,867,000, an increase of 26 percent over the previous year, and net income was a record $36,435,000 or 99 cents per share, an increase of 46 percent over the previous year.
 Linear Technology Corp. was founded in 1981 as a manufacturer of high-performance linear integrated circuits. Linear Technology products include operation, instrumentation and audio amplifiers; voltage regulators, references, comparators and converters; switched-capacitor filters; communications interface circuits; one-chip data acquisition systems; pulse-width modulators and sample-and-hold devices. Applications for Linear Technology's high performance circuits include notebook and desk top computers, computer peripherals, cellular telephones, electronic testers, industrial and medical electronic instruments, automotive controls, process controls, factory automation products, and avionics.
