LIFE TECHNOLOGIES ELECTS TWO NEW DIRECTORS; DAVID L. COFFIN RETIRES;
 WORTH LOOMIS NAMED CHAIRMAN
 GAITHERSBURG, Md., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Life Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: LTEK) announced today the election of two new directors to its board: Thomas H. Adams, Ph.D., and Betsy Z. Cohen. Both Adams and Cohen were elected to three-year terms expiring in 1995. Robert E. McGill III, executive vice president-finance and administration, The Dexter Corporation, and J. Stark Thompson, president and chief executive officer, Life Technologies, Inc., were reelected to the board of directors to serve three-year terms expiring in 1995.
 Adams is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Genta Incorporated, a biotechnology company. He previously served as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Gen-Probe, a biotech firm which he co-founded. Adams currently serves as a director of Ixsys, Inc., and Biosite Diagnostics and is a member of the scientific advisory boards of Gensia Pharmaceuticals and IDEC, Inc.
 Cohen is chairman of the board of State Bancshares, Inc., a bank holding company. She also serves as chairman of the board of Jefferson Bank, Philadelphia, and Jefferson Bank of New Jersey. Cohen is currently a director of Dominion Bancshares and Dominion Bank, N.A., of Roanoke, Va.
 The company also recognized the valuable contribution made by David L. Coffin upon his retirement from the board of directors today. Coffin served as chairman of the board of the company since 1989 and was a member of the board of directors since 1977.
 Succeeding Coffin as chairman of the board is Worth Loomis, president of The Hartford Graduate Center and a director of the Company since 1977. Loomis is a former president of The Dexter Corporation and currently sits on the boards of Connecticut Natural Gas Corporation, Southern New England Telephone Company, CIGNA Funds Group and Spencer Turbine Company. Loomis is also a trustee of Mechanics Savings Bank.
 Life Technologies, Inc. develops, manufactures and supplies more than 2,000 products used principally in life science research and commercial manufacture of genetically engineered products. The company is a leading supplier of sera and other cell growth media, as well as enzymes and other biological products necessary for recombinant DNA procedures.
