LIBERTY TECHNOLOGIES, INC. HIRES JOSEPH P. LAHEY AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, ESTABLISHES HOUSTON OFFICE

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Liberty Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: LIBT), a leader in developing, manufacturing and servicing diagnostic testing systems, has hired Joseph P. Lahey as senior vice president.
Lahey is responsible for establishing Liberty's new Houston office and for managing Liberty's growth and penetration into the industrial area.
Lahey was formerly president and chief executive officer of Houston- based AMEC Engineering Inc. His 20 years of experience managing engineering, construction, and services for petroleum refineries, petrochemical producers and electric power generators will be critical in guiding Liberty's acquisition program, and in introducing Liberty's technologies to a cross-section of process industries including the petrochemical, chemical, electric power, and pulp and paper industries.
Since the company's inception in 1984, Liberty Technologies, Inc., has established itself as the leading developer and manufacturer of premier diagnostic products throughout the nuclear power market. Liberty also provides extensive technical support and field services.
"Joe's Houston base, and his familiarity with Gulf Coast petroleum processing industries will spearhead our expansion into these markets and help pursue the acquisition goals and growth strategies enabled by our recent initial public offering, said R. Nim Evatt, president and chief executive officer. "Liberty's new Houston office coupled with Joe's experience will expand the applications of our technologies to new industries, continue to underscore our commitment to client service, and help solidify new alliances with large petrochemical companies."
In addition to evaluating process industry acquisition opportunities, Lahey will be responsible for negotiating transactions. He will assume operational responsibility of all acquired companies in the process area.
Prior to his position as president and chief executive officer of AMEC Engineering, Inc., the British-owned, $200 million-per-year integrated supplier of engineering, construction, fabrication and maintenance services and products to the petrochemical and refinery process markets, Lahey served as vice president and general manager of Combustion Engineering, Inc.'s Lummus Crest's Houston operations.
During his term at Combustion Engineering Lahey served in a number of positions responsible for strategic planning, acquisitions, business development and operations for a number of domestic and international centers.
Lahey has also held positions with Geosource, Inc. and Kellogg, Inc., both Houston-based companies, and with Dravo Corporation and U.S. Steel, both Pittsburgh-based companies.
Lahey holds a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering and an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh.
Liberty Technologies, Inc., founded in 1984, develops equipment based on proprietary technologies to detect incipient failures, degraded conditions and potential non-performance of valves, motors and turbines. VOTES(R), Liberty's Valve Operation Test & Evaluation System, is the leading system for testing motor operated valves in the U.S. nuclear power industry.
