LHC dismisses plea against MNA Asfandyar Bhandara.
LAHORE -- The Lahore High Court Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking disqualification of PMLN MNA Asfandyar Bhandara.
The single bench comprising Justice Shahzada Mazhar dismissed the petition filed by Pakistan TehreekiInqalab through its chairman.
Earlier, the petitioner's counsel submitted that Bhandara was elected MNA on a seat reserved for minorities.
He said the MNA was a tax defaulter and a National Accountability Bureau reference was pending against him before an accountability court. The counsel contended that the petitioner did not fulfill criteria set in Article 62 and 63.
Therefore, directions be issued for his disqualification, he pleaded. However, the respondent MNA's counsel told the court that the NAB reference had been quashed.
He said that the petition was not maintainable as the petitioner was not an aggrieved party.
He pleaded the court to dismiss the petition. The court after hearing arguments of both parties agreed with respondent counsel arguments and dismissed the petition.
