TELECOMWORLDWIRE-7 December 2009-LG eXpo integrates AuthenTec Smart Sensor technology(C)1994-2009 M2 COMMUNICATIONS

Smart fingerprint sensors and solutions provider AuthenTec (Nasdaq:AUTH) announced on Monday that its 'Smart Sensor' technology has been integrated into the LG eXpo 1GHz smartphone, available for AT&T customers beginning on Monday.

No financial details were disclosed.

According to the company, the LG eXpo is the first smartphone available in the US that utilises the multiple features and functions of AuthenTec's AES1711 integrated input control solution.

The handset eliminates the need for pin codes and passwords with the 'Smart Sensor' fingerprint recognition from AuthenTec. In addition, the Smart Sensor complements the touchscreen user interface of the eXpo by providing precise cursor control for text editing, 4-way menu navigation and AuthenTec's turbo-scroll feature for rapid browsing of long e-mails, contact lists or websites.

The smartphone is loaded with Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional to help users stay more connected with e-mail, calendar and Microsoft Office Mobile. In addition, the phone's optional LG mobile projector accessory allows users to display web pages, documents, photos and videos regardless of their location.
