LG&E ENERGY CORP. COMPLETES SALE OF

 LOUISVILLE, Ky. Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- LG&E Energy Corp. (NYSE-LGE) today announced that it has completed the sale of its 36.5 percent general partnership interest in Natural Gas Clearinghouse (NGC), of Houston, Texas, to NOVA Corporation of Alberta, a Canadian natural gas and chemical company.
 The sale for $170 million was announced December 21, 1993.
 LG&E Energy Corp. acquired a one-third interest in NGC, the nation's largest independent natural gas marketing company, in May 1992 and later increased that interest to 36.5 percent, for a total investment of approximately $70 million. The company expects to report a pre-tax gain of approximately $87 million in the first quarter of 1994.
 LG&E Energy Corp. has 23 power generation plants that are owned, operated or under construction in eight states and owns Louisville Gas and Electric Company, which provides electric and gas services to residential, commercial and industrial customers in Louisville, Kentucky and surrounding areas.
