LEXUS SETS GS 300 PRICE AT $37,500;

 TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The all-new Lexus GS 300 will have a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $37,500 when it goes on sales in late February, the luxury division of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc., announced today.
 In addition, the MSRP of other Lexus vehicles will increase an average of 1.2 percent effective Feb. 26. The increase is the result of higher production and operating costs. Only base prices are affected. There are no changes to accessory prices.
 The European-designed GS 300 luxury performance sedan is powered by a 3.0-liter, 220-horsepower, six-cylinder engine. It has a double wishbone suspension, 16-inch V-rated tires and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with anti-lock braking. The interior features such Lexus trademarks as an electroluminescent instrument panel, dual air bags, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, power driver and passenger seats and genuine walnut wood trim. Options include leather interior and Nakamichi stereo.
 "We expect to sell about 25,000 GS 300s during 1993," said George Borst, Lexus group vice president and general manager. "With a base price of $37,500, it is an excellent value compared to its prime competitors, the BMW 535i and Mercedes Benz 300E.
