LEXUS ANNOUNCES 1994 MODEL PRICING

TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Lexus 1994 car prices will increase an average of 5.9 percent, or $2,209, compared to comparably equipped '93 models, the luxury division of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., announced today.
Compared to the final manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for '93 Lexus models, prices are up an average of 6.5 percent or $2,424.
For '94 the ES 300, Lexus' best-selling model, will feature an all- new 3-liter, V6 aluminum engine that is more powerful, more fuel efficient and meets new stringent emissions requirements. The ES 300 also will add a number of interior refinements previously found on the LS 400, including a passenger-side airbag, improved adjustable passenger seat, audible remote entry and an outside temperature gauge. The ES 300 will have a new base price of $30,600, up 3.94 percent, or $1,135, on a comparably equipped basis.
"Most of this price increase is the result of the appreciation of the yen compared to the dollar" said George Borst, group vice president and general manager. "Toyota's cost-cutting programs have offset some of the increase in the value of the yen. But there's only so much you can do without an appropriate increase in car prices."
