LEXIS-NEXIS adds content, offers more information services to pharmaceutical industry.

LEXIS-NEXIS recently enhanced its online collection of content specifically of interest to the pharmaceutical and medical industries, according to a company announcement.

Two new FDC Reports newsletters have been added to the collection of FDC Reports publications that LEXIS-NEXIS already offers online. The reports, Pharmaceutical Approvals Monthly and The Gold Sheet, will appear online 1 week after print publication. Pharmaceutical Approvals Monthly provides information on the NDA approval process, while The Gold Sheet is a monthly newsletter on quality control in the pharmaceutical industry. LEXIS-NEXIS claims to be the first to put FDC Reports newsletters online, starting in 1985.

LEXIS-NEXIS has also augmented its medical information online with five of the seven Medical Device Register directories published by the Medical Economics Company: The Medical Device Register and its international edition, The HMO/PPO Directory, The Directory of Hospital Personnel, and The Health Care ATTLAS. The company says it will add The Directory of Healthcare Group Purchasing Organizations and The Product Development Directory to its online collection later this year.

To develop marketing programs specifically aimed at managers and executives who need to keep abreast of trends and developments in the pharmaceutical industry, LEXIS-NEXIS recently hired John Pal as pharmaceutical segment director in its business information services division. According to LEXIS-NEXIS, which is a division of Reed Elsevier, Inc., it adds millions of documents each week to its more than 1 billion documents online. The NEXIS service alone offers more than 8,780 sources of news and business information.
