LEVITZ FURNITURE ANNOUNCES LANE GALLERY OPENINGS

 BOCA RATON, Fla., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Levitz Furniture Incorporated (NYSE: LFI), the largest specialty retailer of furniture in the United States, is opening America's Lifestyles Galleries by Lane Furniture in its three Long Island, N.Y. locations. According to Ronald Kaplan, Northeastern vice president, "combining Levitz' excellent service and Lane's fine quality will give the Levitz customer a greatly enhanced furniture shopping experience." He adds that "customers 38-56 years old who read the shelter magazines i.e., Better Homes & Gardens, Country Living, Country Home...will be able to see the same architecturally designed and accessorized room settings displaying four major collections. One of the collections, "America," with over 200 pieces, is authenticated reproductions and adaptations of country antiques found in the museum of American Folk Art in New York. Levitz will offer over 1,000 pieces in the four collections and a curiosity shop."
 The America's Lifestyles Galleries will also offer upholstery including sofas, loveseats, chairs, and upholstered dining. Customers will be able to order any item in 57 fabrics at the same price as the stock piece. This allows customers to match pieces for personal and decorator looks with over 2,000 combinations, all delivered in four to six weeks.
 Levitz Furniture Corporation has 118 large furniture stores in 25 states from coast to coast. Last fiscal year, total revenues exceeded $920 million.
