LEVEL ONE REPORTS RECORD FOURTH QUARTER & YEAR-END RESULTS

 FOLSOM, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Level One Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: LEVL) today reported record results for the fourth quarter and year ended Jan. 1, 1994. All share and per share amounts do not reflect the 3-for-2 stock split announced Dec. 15, 1993, and with a payment date of Jan. 20, 1994.
 Revenue for the quarter was $8,547,036, a 90% increase from the fourth quarter of 1992. Net income for the quarter was $1,494,000, or $0.19 per share, a 111% improvement over last year's similar period. Revenue for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 26, 1992 was $4,502,000, and net income was $603,000, or $0.09 per share. Average weighted common shares outstanding for the quarter ended Jan. 1, 1994, were 7,948,152 versus 6,666,970 for the same period in 1992.
 For the year, revenue grew 85% to $25,984,187 from $14,075,000 in 1992. Net income for 1993 increased 110% to $3,739,000, or $0.52 per share. In 1992, net income was $1,784,000, or $0.27 per share. Average weighted common shares outstanding for the year ended Jan. 1, 1994, were 7,161,681 as compared to 6,533,000 in 1992.
 "Fourth quarter results were driven by continued strong demand for our products in both the transmission and networking markets," said Dr. Robert Pepper, president and chief executive officer. "During the period we also initiated shipments of our High Speed Digital Subscriber Loop (HDSL) Data Pump. HDSL is designed to transmit data up to 12,000 feet on standard telephone company transmission lines, reducing the need to install and maintain repeaters for most business locations in the United States."
 Level One Communications provides "Silicon Connectivity Solutions" for high speed digital signal transmission and networking applications. These components are critical connecting links in today's telephone and data communications (LAN/WAN) networks and are the key building blocks of tomorrow's digital electronic "superhighway." Level One combines its strengths in analog and digital circuit design with its communications systems expertise to produce mixed-signal solutions with increased functionality and greater reliability, resulting in lower total system cost.
