LETTERS WHO SENDS YOUNG VISITORS TO MICHAEL JACKSON'S HOUSE?

The Michael Jackson interview that aired on ABC left many unanswered questions (U, Feb. 5). One question I would like to see answered is this: What organization, group or individual is responsible for sending bus loads of disadvantaged children to Neverland Ranch? I would really be interested in reading a story regarding this questionable practice.

'Blue' language offends

Hurray for Patricia Heaton of ``Everybody Loves Raymond'' when she angrily walked out of the American Music Awards because of all of the vulgarity spewing forth from the Osbourne family. I am glad Jim Rutenberg thinks the ``reaction to profanity on TV not so profound'' (U, Feb. 6).

I think he might look at which shows are at the top of the ratings. His highly praised ``NYPD'' has sunk further and further down in the ratings since ``Judging Amy'' has been running against it! I am proud to say I have never watched a second of it (``NYPD Blue'').

Years back I enjoyed ``Hill Street Blues,'' ``Law & Order,'' and ``Law & Order: SVU.'' I also have just recently discovered ``Third Watch'' via the reruns on A&E. I also think ``CSI'' - the highest-rated show - is really good and enjoyable. Yet, some of those shows have foul language.

When I was growing up - a while ago I'll admit - the only people who used foul language were people who never got very far in school - most never even finished grade school - so they did not have much of a vocabulary.

That should not be the case with television writers. I assume Osbourne's problem is all the drugs he has used over the years have fried his brains. Maybe that is the television writers' problem also.

The argument that the shows ``NYPD'' and ``The District'' - which I understand is even worse - etc., win all the Emmy awards because they are so ``artistic'' is so wrong-headed it is pathetic.

While it is true the individual shows submit what each show feels is its best episode, an ``elite'' group of ``experts'' pick the final winners. That's like having the critics pick the winners and as the Oscars so frequently demonstrate, critics do not think or judge like people who actually do the job.
