What's on readers' minds: Reaction to a May 31 bicycle-log truck accident that killed Eugene triathlete and author Jane Higdon was far and away the top letter topic this week. Many writers who live in the area along Territorial Road where the fatal accident occurred shared their concern that an increase both in the number of cyclists and in the volume of vehicle traffic created dangerous conditions on Territorial. We also continued to receive letters debating the reasons for the liberal political leanings of the University of Oregon faculty.
