Healthy eating initiative is good for the children

RE the editorial comment (Nuneaton Telegraph, September 22.)

As parents of a pupil at All Saints primary School, Knebley Crescent, Nuneaton, we would like to express our concern over the way the head teacher and governors are being taken to task over the snack ban introduction.

Ourselves and other parents are quite happy with the decision and find the cost of pounds 1 a week and the choice of snack given reasonable, were I to buy my child crisps and pop every day it would cost as much or more a week.

We feel the comment was unhelpful to everyone at the school and ask that you let teachers teach and children learn without malice.

Concerned parents,

Name and address supplied.

... AS a parent of two primary age children in Nuneaton, I have to congratulate the headteacher and governors for offering such a brilliant service, even without the fruit, surely 50p a week for fresh milk every day is fantastic value!

As for the school curriculum, the Telegraph must have heard of PHSE, this subject is taught in all primary schools. It's about personal health issues. School is not just about the three Rs these days!

I wish my children's school was able to offer such a service, but I know my parents would say: "If children had a proper breakfast then they wouldn't need a mid-morning snack".

Miss K Hunt,

Red Deeps,

Nuneaton.
