LESLIE POUND, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF PARAMOUNT
INTERNATIONAL MARKETING, TO RELOCATE TO LONDON
HOLLYWOOD, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Leslie Pound, senior vice president of international marketing for Paramount's Motion Picture Group, will be relocating to the studio's London offices effective Dec. 1, it was announced today.
Pound's current duties of overseeing all international marketing, publicity and promotion will remain the same. Additionally, he will be working closely with Paramount's London-based European Production Office and will continue to act as liaison with United International Pictures, Paramount's international distributor.
Pound was promoted to his current position in November 1990. Previously, he had been vice president, international marketing, since 1983. During his tenure, he has overseen the successful international campaigns of movies such as "Wayne's World," "Ghost," "The Hunt for Red October," "'Crocodile' Dundee II," "The Accused," "Children of a Lesser God," "Fatal Attraction," "Beverly Hills Cop," and "Top Gun," among others.
Pound originally joined Paramount's publicity department in London in 1952 to work on C.B. DeMille's "The Greatest Show on Earth." He was subsequently appointed director of advertising and publicity in the United Kingdom for Paramount. When Cinema International Corp. was formed in 1970, he retained his Paramount position with expanded duties involving CIC. In the following years, he was in charge of the United Kingdom's marketing and launched some of the most successful movies ever made, among them "Love Story," "The Godfather I and II," "The Sting," and "Jaws."
In 1977, Pound joined Lew Grade at ITC Entertainment as worldwide director of publicity and advertising. In 1982, Pound was based in Los Angeles as international publicity chief for Embassy Pictures before rejoining Paramount in 1983.
Paramount Pictures is part of the entertainment operations of Paramount Communications Inc. (NYSE: PCI).
