 LEO R. BREITMAN NAMED CHAIRMAN AND CEO OF FLEET BANK OF
 MASSACHUSETTS; JOHN P. HAMILL TO JOIN BANK AS PRESIDENT
 BOSTON, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Leo R. Breitman, president and CEO of Fleet Bank of Massachusetts, today announced that at the end of October, he will assume the position of chairman of the bank, while retaining the responsibilities of CEO. John P. Hamill will join Fleet Bank of Massachusetts as president.
 Breitman served as president and CEO of Fleet Bank of Massachusetts since July of 1991 to the present. Hamill most recently served as vice chairman of Shawmut National Corporation and president of Shawmut National Bank, N.A.

 Hamill served as president of Shawmut Corporation from 1981 until 1988, when he assumed the position of vice chairman of Shawmut National Corporation. He had previously served since 1978 as president and CEO of Banc One Corporation's trust and mortgage subsidiaries in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to joining Banc One, Hamill held the position of president and CEO of Galbreath Mortgage Company, an affiliate of Chemical Bank in Columbus, since 1975. He began his banking career in 1965 as deputy general counsel for Chemical Bank in New York.
 Hamill is a trustee of the College of the Holy Cross, a director of Liberty Mutual Life Insurance Company, chairman of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay 1992 Campaign and chairman of the board of New England Deaconess Hospital.
 Hamill earned a B.A. degree from the College of the Holy Cross. He holds a J.D. degree and an LL.M. degree in taxation from New York University.
