 LENNAR CORPORATION RESPONDS TO LAWSUITS
MIAMI, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Lennar Corporation (NYSE: LEN) today

released the following memorandum:
 MEMORANDUM
 TO: All Lennar Associates
 FROM: Leonard Miller
 DATE: September 11, 1992

Over the past 38 years thousands of homeowners have placed their trust in Lennar Corporation. This trust is our Company's most valuable asset and we will do whatever it takes to continue to earn it. I want to take this opportunity to respond to some of the erroneous allegations made against our Company as well as to speak positively about what Lennar Corporation has done, is doing, and will continue to do to help rebuild our community and the many lives so seriously affected by Hurricane Andrew. Dade County has been my home for just about all my adult life. It is our Company's corporate headquarters and several hundred of our employees call it home. Our roots are here. We are proud of our Company's contribution to its growth over the past 38 years and we intend to continue that commitment. We always have, we do today, and we always will stand behind the quality of our work and our adherence to all the rules, ordinances and codes that govern our business in Dade and everywhere else we build. In the initial days after the storm our Dade employees (many of them homeless themselves) pitched in to help others with the basic essentials such as food, shelter, water and medical care. Our other divisions in and outside of Florida provided unselfish assistance with truckloads of relief supplies. I have never been prouder of our Company or its people. Now it is time to rebuild our community. We understand how so many people feel so violated by this terrible storm and we too feel that way. We understand the temptation to lash out and find blame, but we also understand that wind estimated by some to approach 200 mph brought destruction not only to homes but to virtually everything in its path, including office buildings, shopping centers, a U.S. military base, Bloomingdale's department store and even the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant. I am sure you are all concerned about the recent lawsuits filed against us and some of the reports appearing in the press. Our company has always been dedicated to building high quality homes. It has always been our absolute policy to comply with all building codes, rules and regulations relative to the construction of our homes, and we have no knowledge that any violation of this policy has occurred. We have always insisted that our subcontractors adhere to the same policy. We stand behind the homes we build, and we stand up to our responsibilities, as we have done for 38 years. We have always corrected any problems for which we are responsible, and we remain committed to our goal of producing the highest quality homes for our customers. We believe that the allegations that have been made are totally without merit. We will defend any lawsuits aggressively and will pursue compensation for any costs we incur in our defense. We will not allow these lawsuits to damage our hard-earned reputation gained over almost 40 years of helping to build this community. We believe that Dade County will best be served by all those of good will joining in the rebuilding process. Lennar has an important role to play in finding roofers, carpenters and other craftsmen and in organizing the massive effort required. We do not intend to be diverted by those who would seek to profit from the misery of others, and we invite all others to join us in the reconstruction process. I would like to end these comments with a personal note. The despair and sense of loss that many of you feel is shared in my family. Members of my family saw their homes and business damaged. But we are rebuilding and so will you. I look forward to sharing with all of you the accomplishments that lie ahead as we work together in our community.
