LENCZYCKI NAMED PRESIDENT OF HARRAH'S NEW ORLEANS

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Promus Companies Incorporated (NYSE: PRI) today announced that Ronald Lenczycki, 50, has been named President of Harrah's New Orleans. Harrah's and a partnership of 10 Louisiana businessmen were selected last week by the state of Louisiana to exclusively negotiate for the state's only land- based casino, to be located in New Orleans.
Lenczycki has been responsible for all operations of Harrah's Atlantic City since October 1988, serving as president since July 1991 and general manager since 1988. He has served in numerous operations and financial positions with Harrah's and Promus over the last 17 years. Previous assignments include senior vice president and general manager of the award winning Harrah's Lake Tahoe Casino Hotel and chief financial officer for the Promus Gaming Group.
"Ron Lenczycki is among the most talented and experienced casino executives in the industry, with an unsurpassed record of performance in diverse casino markets and properties," said Philip G. Satre, president and chief operating officer for Promus. "From managing a five star property, to attracting a broad mix of high end and middle market customers, to an ability to operate profitably in difficult financial and competitive environments, to leadership in social issues such as prevention of underage gambling and participation in Atlantic City redevelopment projects, Ron has proved to be a true leader."
"I am confident Ron will do a job that Harrah's, our partners and the citizens of Louisiana will be proud of," Satre added.
Lenczycki will begin his responsibilities in New Orleans immediately, assembling a management and operating team, understanding the unique dynamics of the market and focusing on the first phase opening in the first quarter of 1994.
Based in Memphis, Tenn., Harrah's is the only casino company operating in all five major Nevada and New Jersey casino markets -- Atlantic City, N.J., Lake Tahoe, Laughlin, Las Vegas and Reno, Nev. Harrah's first riverboat casino opened in May 1993 in Joliet, Ill. Additional casino entertainment projects in Vicksburg and Tunica, Miss., North Kansas City, and Maryland Heights (St. Louis), Mo., Shreveport, La., Central City, Colo., and on Ak-Chin Indian land outside of Phoenix, reinforce Harrah's commitment to be the country's most recognized and only true national casino brand.
Harrah's parent company, Promus, also owns and operates three leading hotel brands: Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites hotels.
