LEMAY ELECTED TO SPRINT BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint (NYSE: FON) today announced that Ronald T. LeMay, president and chief operating officer of Sprint's Long Distance Division, has been elected to the corporation's board of directors. The addition of LeMay increases the Sprint board to 17 members.
 "Ron LeMay has done an outstanding job in leading our long distance operations," said William T. Esrey, Sprint's chairman and chief executive officer. "Through his guidance, Sprint has delivered significant improvements in operating results through the introduction of innovative services and products and improvements in internal operating efficiencies. We welcome his addition to the board."
 LeMay, 47, joined Sprint in 1985 as vice president and general counsel. In 1986, he became senior vice president of operations for the United Telephone System. He was elected executive vice president of corporate affairs for Sprint in 1987 and was given the added responsibilities of executive vice president of staff for the Long Distance Division in 1988. He served in that capacity until becoming president and chief operating officer of the Long Distance Division in 1989.
 Prior to joining Sprint, LeMay served in various legal capacities with Southwestern Bell for seven years, before being named assistant vice president of revenue requirements and economic analysis in 1979. In 1983, he was appointed regional vice president of external affairs for AT&T Communications in Kansas City. In February 1985, he was named vice president and comptroller for AT&T and served in that capacity until joining Sprint.
 LeMay holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from South Arkansas University and a law degree from the University of Arkansas.
