WASHINGTON, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Leleti Khumalo, the South African actress who made her debut in the musical play "SARAFINA!" is the featured guest on "Live From L.A.," Wednesday, July 1, at 11 a.m. EDT.
Host Tanya Hart and Khumalo discuss the recent massacre in Boipatong and Nelson Mandela's decision to cut off talks with the South African government. Khumalo also talks about the number of rich black people living in South Africa who also live in white suburbs and mentions that she has just purchased a house in an integrated part of South Africa.
Khumalo, 21, has performed the role of Sarafina on Broadway and around the world for two-and-a-half years. She has received a Tony Award nomination for best actress for her role, the first time an African female has been nominated for this prestigious award.
In addition to her acting ability, she is also an accomplished singer and performs a duet with the legendary South African singer, Mariam Makeba, for the film "SARAFINA!"
"SARAFINA!" follows the activities of a group of South African students of the Morris Issacson High School in Soweto, site of the now-famous 1976 student uprising, in their resistance to and rebellion against apartheid.
