LEGGETT & PLATT REPORTS RECORD FOURTH QUARTER AND FULL YEAR RESULTS FOR 1992

 CARTHAGE, Mo., Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Leggett & Platt Inc. (NYSE: LEG) today reported that earnings increased to record levels for all four quarters of 1992. For the fourth quarter, fully diluted earnings increased to 41 cents per share, up 46 percent over the fourth quarter of 1991. For the year, fully diluted earnings were $1.63 per share, up 50 percent over 1991.
 Leggett's sales also increased to record levels for all four 1992 quarters. Sales of $297.5 million for the fourth quarter were up 16 percent. For the year, sales were up 8 percent to $1.17 billion. Excluding operations divested or acquired, sales increased 14 percent for the quarter and 9 percent for the year.
 The following is a summary of operations for the year and the fourth quarter of 1992 and 1991.
