 LEGG AND TAPPERT NAMED CO-MANAGING DIRECTORS OF GE CAPITAL EUROPE
 STAMFORD, Conn., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- GE Capital today announced that David Legg and George Tappert have been named co-managing directors of GE Capital Europe. In their new positions, Legg and Tappert will share responsibility for coordinating GE Capital's many business activities in Europe as well as developing new business opportunities.
 Gary C. Wendt, president and chief executive officer of GE Capital, said, "Our increased European presence requires close communication and coordination among our many distinct businesses. We are looking to David and George to facilitate the sharing of information between businesses and to work with individual business managers to more effectively compete in European markets."
 In their new positions, Legg and Tappert will report to Stephen Berger, executive vice president. Legg will focus on information coordination and business development. Tappert's emphasis will be on administration.
 Both Legg and Tappert will retain their current responsibilities in addition to their new roles. Legg will continue to serve as chairman of First Personal Bank and Tappert will continue to serve as managing director of GE Capital's corporate and industrial funding group in Europe.
 David Legg joined GE Capital as head of European operations for its retailer financial services business following GE Capital's acquisition of Burton's private label credit card business.
 George Tappert served as vice president, strategic planning and business development prior to his move to London to manage GE Capital's project and corporate finance business.
