LEGENDARY COMIC TO APPEAR AT TREASURE ISLAND SEPT. 14; OTHER TUESDAY NIGHT COMEDIANS SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER

 TREASURE ISLAND, Minn., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Famed comedian Shelley Berman heads the schedule for one of the four Tuesday Comedy Nights in September at Treasure Island Casino.
 Berman, who will perform his one-man show at 2 and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, is among a group of highly popular comedians scheduled for the month. Paul Provenza will appear Sept. 7. Pam Stone will appear Sept. 21 as part of the regular Ladies Comedy Night Out and Scott Novotny will host New Voices in Comedy, featuring up and coming performers, on the 28th of the month.
 Provenza, Stone and Novotny will perform their respective two shows at 7 and 9 p.m. Along with Berman, all four performances in September will be in the Barbados Ballroom at Treasure Island Casino. All shows are free admission.
 Berman first gained national acclaim in the late 1950s as a nightclub and television comedian. He also cut several LPs in the 1950s and 1960s. He was the first winner of a Grammy for a non-musical recording and has three gold records to his credit. A regular on such shows as Jack Paar and Ed Sullivan, he also appeared with Henry Fonda in the film "The Best Man" and with Debbie Reynolds in "Divorce American Style."
 Berman has had several hit roles in both Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. These include "A Family Affair," "Two By Two" and "Le Cage Au Folle." His television appearances have included comedic and dramatic roles in such shows as "LA Law," "MacGyver" and "Civil Wars." A resident of Los Angeles, Berman teaches in the Master of Professional Writing Program at USC.
 Provenza has become a highly praised comedian and dramatic actor. His comedic roles have included appearances on "Late Night with David Letterman," "The Tonight Show" and his own specials on HBO and Showtime. He starred with Andy Griffith in the television movie, "Under the Influence" and on "Empty Nest" on NBC. Comedian Torian Hughes will be the opening act.
 Stone is best known as the character Judy Watkins on ABC's "Coach," playing the antagonist to Minnesota State football coach Hayden Fox. Stone has also appeared on "Late Night with David Letterman," "The Tonight Show," "Entertainment Tonight," "Joan Rivers" and "Oprah." She was nominated in 1988, 1989, 1990 and 1991 for Best Female Stand-Up Comic of the Year by the American Comedy Awards.
 Novotny has been called "the Red Skelton of the 90s" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune. A former writer for "Saturday Night Live," he has headlined at comedy clubs throughout the country and recently appeared on MTV's "Half Hour Comedy" show.
