LECTRON PRODUCTS INTRODUCES PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM
 FOR AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Lectron Products, Inc. of Rochester Hills today announced the introduction of its Passive Keyless Entry (PKE) System for consumer and commercial vehicles.
Unlike keyless entry systems currently in use today which require the pressing of a button on a sender unit or the entering of a code on the vehicle entry pad to activate, the Lectron PKE System offers the driver the ability to automatically unlock the vehicle when approaching within a prescribed distance. When the driver leaves the vehicle, the Lectron PKE System will automatically lock the vehicle.
The Lectron PKE System is ideal for vehicles of all designs, especially family types, such as minivans, which often require loading and unloading of children and packages without having hands free to physically unlock the vehicle, and commercial vans. In addition, the Lectron PKE System offers increased security for secluded parking areas where quick vehicle access is desirable.
The Lectron PKE System will be standard equipment on a domestic vehicle application beginning in the 1993 model year. Additional potential applications are currently under development.
Lectron Products, Inc. is a privately held manufacturer of electronic, electro-hydraulic and electro-mechanical components for the auto industry and has plants in Rochester Hills and Hamilton, Ind. In addition, Lectron is involved in a strategic alliance with Donnelly Corporation of Holland, Mich., in the manufacture of "smart mirrors" and with Microtron, Inc. of Minneapolis, a privately owned minority company providing electronics products for the automotive industry.
