LEAR APPOINTS RALPH TREDWAY

 SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Kenneth L. Way, chairman of Lear Seating Corporation, today announced the appointment of Ralph Tredway, 52, as vice president in charge of Product Development, effective immediately.
 Tredway, an engineering graduate of the University of Wisconsin, has held major positions in the design of passenger cars and trucks at Chevrolet Division GM Truck & Bus Group of General Motors since 1963.
 He will report to Robert E. Rossiter, president and chief operating officer of Lear Seating Corporation.
 Tredway had a significant role in many engineering programs at GM as well as helping to shape the light-truck popularity phenomenon that characterized the 1980s and 1990s.
 He completed the MIT Sloan School of Management Senior Executive Program in the fall of 1986. Tredway also has participated in three other post-graduate programs.
 Tredway and his wife, Kathy, have two daughters, Lisa, a graduate of the University of Michigan, and Kim, a graduate of Michigan State University.
 Lear Seating Corporation is the world's largest independent seat system manufacturer. Lear employs 14,500 workers in 45 facilities worldwide. Sales for Lear's fiscal year ending June 30, 1992, were $1.4 billion.
