LEAR ANNOUNCES FIRST QUARTER SALES

 SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Lear Holdings, Inc., the parent of Lear Seating Corporation, today announced record sales estimated at $396 million for the first quarter of fiscal year 1994, which ended Sept. 30, up 10.3 percent from the $359 million reported a year ago.
 Kenneth L. Way, Lear's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said: "The increase in sales of automotive seat systems in North America corresponds to higher vehicle sales, reflecting a stronger U.S. market."
 Lear, a Fortune 300 company and one of the world's leading independent automotive seating manufacturers, will produce over 11 million seats this year. The company, which employs 12,500 employees at 51 facilities located in 10 countries and six states, had sales of $1.76 billion for the 1993 fiscal year ending June 30, 1993.
