LEAR ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE CHANGES

 SOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Major executive changes at Lear Seating Corporation were announced today by Robert E. Rossiter, president and chief operating officer. All appointments are effective immediately.
 Barthold H. Hoemann, 54, vice president in charge of Lear's component operations, has been promoted to senior vice president, in charge of all North American JIT (Just in Time) operations, reporting to Rossiter. Hoemann began his career with General Motors, then joined Lear in 1977 as president of its Haas Plastic Division. He became president and CEO of Peerless Corporation in 1987 and rejoined Lear Seating in 1991 as vice president and general manager of Lear Plastics. Hoemann has a bachelor's degree from the General Motors Institute and an MBA from the University of Detroit.
 Richard N. Hodgson, 45, formerly plant manager of the Kitchener, Ontario, plant, has been appointed vice president of the Lear Component Group, reporting to Rossiter. Hodgson joined Lear in 1982 as controller and secretary-treasurer of the Lear Siegler Industries; he became plant manager in 1985. He was graduated from Mohawk College Ontario in business administration in 1969 and in 1975 as a Registered Industrial Accountant.
 Ralph R. Tredway, 52, formerly vice president in charge of Product Development, was promoted to vice president in charge of Engineering, also reporting to Rossiter. Tredway, an engineering graduate of the University of Wisconsin, began his career in 1963 with the Chevrolet Division of General Motors. He worked for Borg Warner and Outboard Marine Corporation before returning to GM in 1969. Tredway worked in many engineering positions before being named chief engineer of G and P trucks in 1979. In 1983 he was appointed chief engineer of passenger cars for Chevrolet and then moved to Truck & Bus Group as director of Light Duty Vehicle Engineering in 1984. Tredway also attended the Sloan School for Senior Executives at MIT.
 Randal T. Murphy, 57, formerly vice president in charge of Engineering, has been named director of Lear/JIT operations for Chrysler and BMW, reporting to Hoemann. Murphy joined Lear in 1965 as a product design engineer and has held a series of important engineering positions. Murphy holds a bachelor of mechanical engineering degree from the University of Detroit, and a master's degree in industrial engineering from Wayne State University. Murphy joined GM's manufacturing staff after graduation. He also served three years with the Excello Corporation prior to joining American Metal Products, a predecessor company to Lear Seating Corporation.
