LEADING LOS ANGELES BANKRUPTCY LAW FIRM TO JOIN WITH
SAN FRANCISCO-BASED BRONSON, BRONSON & MCKINNON
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Dennis, Shafer, Fennelly & Creim (DSF&C), one of California's most highly regarded firms in bankruptcy law, has merged with Bronson, Bronson & McKinnon, one of the state's largest full-service law firms. DSF&C has relocated from its Century City offices to Bronson's Los Angeles headquarters at 444 S. Flower St.
The merger increases Bronson's staff to 187 lawyers and creates one of the largest bankruptcy practices in the state, with 15 lawyers in Northern California and the 13 lawyers from DSF&C in Los Angeles.
"The combination of our two experienced firms provides a win-win situation for everyone," said Lucinda Dennis, senior partner of DSF&C. "The merger will allow us to continue to provide clients with the expertise and personal attention that has been our hallmark, while adding a broader scope of services available in the Bronson firm."
"We have been discussing the merger for more than a year," said Michael Ahrens, head of Bronson's bankruptcy department in San Francisco. "Adding DSF&C's bankruptcy group in Los Angeles to our existing department gives Bronson one of the strongest bankruptcy practices in the state."
Founded in 1982, DSF&C has extensive experience representing secured and unsecured creditors and creditors' committees in bankruptcy cases throughout California. Recently, the firm represented unsecured creditors' committees in the Seller Bros. and Blagge Enterprises bankruptcies in Sacramento, and in the Ocean Pacific Sunwear Ltd., Cardis Corp. and K.F. Dairies bankruptcies in Southern California. The firm also has attorneys who specialize in commercial and business law, financial institutions and commercial litigation.
Bronson, Bronson & McKinnon, founded in 1918, has offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Walnut Creek, Lakeport, San Jose and Santa Rosa, Calif. The firm's Los Angeles office was opened in 1977 and has grown rapidly, drawing on Bronson's established reputation for trial work and high-quality, cost-effective litigation talent. The office now has 43 lawyers.
"This merger is exactly what our strategic plan called for," said Sheldon Warren, managing partner of Bronson's Los Angeles office. "DSF&C has a terrific reputation in the bankruptcy field, while our strength has been in trial work and litigation. The match-up is perfect."
