LEADING EXECUTIVE SEARCH FIRM CHANGES NAME TO LAMALIE AMROP INTERNATIONAL

LEADING EXECUTIVE SEARCH FIRM CHANGES NAME TO LAMALIE AMROP INTERNATIONAL
CLEVELAND, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Effective today, Lamalie Associates, the sixth largest executive search firm in America, will adopt the new name, Lamalie Amrop International.
This new name reflects Lamalie's increasing involvement in global searches with its partners in Amrop International. Amrop currently has 52 offices in 31 countries throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia/Pacific.
Amrop International recorded professional fees of more than $70 million in 1991, making it the sixth largest retained search practice in the world. With more than 140 search consultants conducting more than 2,000 searches annually, Amrop International provides the broadest geographic coverage of any search firm.
Lamalie's name change also coincides with the celebration of its 25th anniversary. Lamalie was founded in 1967 in Cleveland, where it is still headquartered. In 1987, Lamalie partners purchased the firm from its founder, Robert E. Lamalie, who is now retired.
The firm also has offices in New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and Tampa. In the United States, Lamalie has more than 100 employees, including 38 partners and principals.
Throughout its 25-year history, Lamalie has conducted searches for more than 1,200 of the most prestigious corporations and institutions in America, including a significant number of the Fortune 500 and 20 of the Fortune 50. Among these are Bristol-Myers Squibb, General Electric, PepsiCo and Allied Signal.
Lamalie's practice focuses on assignments for the board room, chief executive officer, chief operating officer and other senior executive positions. While the firm's practice spans all major industries, it has recently established practice groups in information technology, energy, health care, financial services and real estate.
"We are totally committed to client satisfaction," said John F. Johnson, Lamalie's president and chief executive officer. "We measure this satisfaction by the high percentage of searches that we conduct for existing clients, as well as the stability and success of our placements.
"Over the last four years, 80 percent of our placements are still with their new employers, and a majority have been promoted within the client organizations. In an era of unprecedented consolidations and downsizings, this figure is extraordinary.
"Our name change reflects the increasing global reach of our practice," added Johnson. "At the same time, we still rely on our founding principles -- a strong work ethic, diligence in the conduct of the search process and total integrity with clients and candidates."
Such principles have helped spur Lamalie's growth. The search firm's revenues in the United States have grown steadily from less than $200,000 in 1967 to an estimated $16-million plus in 1992.
