LEADERSHIP CHANGE ANNOUNCED BY MILES INC. AGRICULTURE DIVISION
PITTSBURGH, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- After more than 40 years of service, Heinz K. Wehner, executive vice president, Miles Inc., and president, Agriculture Division, has elected to retire effective June 30, 1992.
Succeeding Wehner is Hermann R. Werner, president, Agriculture Division.
Wehner began his career with Miles' Germany-based parent company in 1951 in his hometown of Lima, Peru. Successive promotions in Peru and Mexico brought him to Kansas City, Mo., as director of marketing for the Agricultural Chemicals Division of the former Mobay Corporation. In 1990, Wehner became head of both the Agricultural and Animal Health Divisions in Kansas City and was named to the company's board of directors and Executive Committee.
Concurrent with the formation of Miles on Jan. 1, 1992, Wehner was named president of the company's Agriculture Division. The division encompasses the crop protection/specialty products, animal health products, and consumer household products.
Werner will succeed Wehner effective July 1, 1992. Werner joined Miles' parent company in 1953 and has held increasingly responsible management positions in both Leverkusen, Germany, and South America. In 1986, he joined the former Mobay Corporation as vice president and general manager of the Dyes, Pigments and Organics Division. In January 1990, Werner became general manager and group vice president of the Plastics, Fibers, and Rubber Division and later that year became an executive vice president and member of the company's Executive Committee and board.
Werner and his wife, Anne-Rose, have relocated to the Kansas City area. Wehner and his wife, Elena, will continue to make Kansas City their home during retirement.
Miles Inc. is a Fortune 100, research-based company with major businesses in chemicals, health care and imaging technologies. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Miles employs some 30,000 people at its operations throughout the United States and Canada. In 1991, the company's sales were $6.2 billion.
