LDA demolishes illegal constructed houses in Scheme-42.

KARACHI, April 29, 2010 (Frontier Star): Layri Development Authority (LDA) carrying operation against illegal constructions in Scheme-42 near Hawksbay demolished dozens concrete houses, while the affected residents staged protests against the administration. Affected residents of the demolished houses chanted slogans against the Minister for Local Governments Sindh Agha Siraj Durrani and LDA administration, while police fired teargas shells and resorted to aerial firing to disperse the protesting people. The affected residents of the demolished houses said that they have purchased the land from a local state agent and during the construction police officials have also taken money from them. While LDA officials were of the view that the occupied Seventy Five acre land Was seized during last three months and the residents of the illegal houses have taken stay-order from the court, that the main reason that they had not demolished the illegal constructions earlier. DG, LDA Agha Maqsood Abbas also informed that " we have been carrying investigations that to whom the affected residents have paid the prices of this land adding that LDA will ensure suitable arrangements to avert such occupation.
