LCI INTERNATIONAL AND PERFORMANCE SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL JOIN TO OFFER GLOBAL INTERNET SERVICES

DUBLIN, Ohio, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- LCI International, Inc. (NASDAQ- NMS: LCII) and Performance Systems International, Inc. (PSI) today announced an agreement which will allow LCI customers to link to the Global Internet, through PSI's network, PSINet(R). Access to the vast data services of Internet is fast becoming a requirement of today's leading businesses who wish to communicate globally to colleagues and databases all over the world.
"As an ongoing commitment to our customers, LCI is committed to providing whatever services are required in order for our customers to maintain or gain a competitive edge in their own businesses," said Thomas J. Wynne, LCI International president. "We are pleased to make access to the Internet available to our customers through this agreement."
"This agreement will allow our customers to take advantage of LCI's telecommunications services as they subscribe to the Internet through PSI," said William R. Schrader, president and chief executive officer of PSI. "We anticipate the customers will see significant cost savings when procuring services from both LCI and PSI."
LCI plans to provide its customers with multiple access methods to the Internet. Initially, LCI will allow users to connect their LANs via a router on their premises and a leased line to an LCI point of presence (POP). Customers may utilize asynchronous dial-up access and LCI's frame relay service to obtain Internet connectivity. LCI customers can utilize this new service offering for access to the Internet's mailing lists, user's groups, bulletin boards, standardized mechanisms for transporting large files, and sophisticated on-line information services. Access costs will vary by port speed. Subscription also requires a one-time installation fee and customers have the added option of leasing routers through LCI.
"The availability to Internet as an option to LCI customers showcases LCI's integrated access strategy in which customers utilizing multiple services over a single T-1 access have the benefit of increased utilization, added networking flexibility and increased cost-savings," said D. Scott Booth, LCI's senior manager of data services marketing. "LCI is one of the few long distance providers who have made this application available. However, LCI has taken the lead in providing customers with additional savings by offering this service at very competitive rates in addition to cross-discounting every service for which a customer has subscribed."
