LCI INTERNATIONAL'S 800 NUMBER BUSINESS BOOMS SINCE 800 PORTABILITY

DUBLIN, Ohio, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- LCI International (NASDAQ-NMS: LCII) today announced that it has acquired more than 2,000 new 800 numbers since 800 portability went into effect on May 1.
"Attractive rates, flat-rated pricing and cross-product discounts have resulted in a flurry of new business activity for the company," said Matthew D. Wald, senior manager of business development.
800 Portability has made charges for 800 number usage more competitive, thus forcing long-distance carriers to provide better service to their customers.
"LCI currently serves more than 8,000 business customers with their 800 service," Wald explained. "The transition of these new customers has been conducted in an efficient manner with no serious problems or customer service issues. We have been able to fine-tune the 800 service requirements of our business customers and meet their needs."
800 Portability now makes it possible for customers of 800 service to choose service providers without changing their established 800 numbers. This allows long-distance carriers to package service offerings that maximize value and flexibility for customers of 800 service.
