LAWYERS TITLE ANNOUNCES DIVIDEND

 RICHMOND, Va., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Lawyers Title Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: LTCO), holding company for Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation (LTIC), headquartered in Richmond, announces that the company's board of directors has declared a cash dividend of 3 cents per share, payable on Sept. 15, 1993, to shareholders of record on Sept. 1, 1993. The cash dividend is Lawyers Title Corporation's first since its advent as a publicly held company on Oct. 1, 1991.
 According to Charles H. Foster Jr., chairman and chief executive officer, the board's action reflects "our confidence in improving real estate markets and Lawyers Title's position of renewed strength in the title industry.
 "In our almost two years as a public company," Foster commented, "we have achieved remarkable progress in improved operating results and cost-containment efforts and in expanding direct operations in growth markets. The board felt that it was time for our shareholders to benefit from that success."
 Founded in 1925, Lawyers Title offers a full line of title insurance services to residential and commercial customers through its network of subsidiaries, branch offices, agents and approved attorneys in the United States, Canada, the Bahama Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
