LAWTER INTERNATIONAL AND HACH COMPANY AGREE TO TERMINATE MERGER

 NORTHBROOK, Ill., and LOVELAND, Colo., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Lawter International, Inc. (NYSE: LAW) and Hach Company (NASDAQ: HACH) jointly announced today that their respective boards of directors have determined that it is in the best interests of both companies to terminate their earlier agreement to combine Hach and Lawter.
 Lawter continues to own 27.8 percent of Hach, and intends to review its alternatives as to its investment in Hach.
 Hach, headquartered in Loveland, is a specialty chemical company and a major manufacturer and distributor of laboratory instruments, process analyzers, test kits and chemical reagents used to analyze the chemical content and other properties of water and other aqueous solutions.
 Lawter, headquartered in Northbrook, also a specialty chemical company with 23 facilities in 15 countries, is a major manufacturer and marketer of printing ink vehicles, specialty additives, synthetic resins, fluorescent colors and thermographic products to the graphic arts, coatings, adhesives and rubber compounding industries.
