LAWSUIT AGAINST SILICON GRAPHICS DISMISSED BY US DISTRICT COURT

LAWSUIT AGAINST SILICON GRAPHICS DISMISSED BY US DISTRICT COURT
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Graphics Inc. (NYSE:SGI) announced today that the securities class action lawsuit filed against the company in May 1991 has been dismissed. The claim alleged that Silicon Graphics' statements made during the January - March 1991 quarter misled the investing public. In its written opinion, the court determined that no legal basis existed for such a claim, and it denied the plaintiff's request to amend the complaint.
Edward R. McCracken, president and CEO of Silicon Graphics, said, "We are extremely gratified by the court's decision. The outcome clearly supports our belief that the action was meritless. While the judicial process vindicated our company, to reach that result we have had to spend a great deal of time and money -- resources that instead should have been devoted to research and innovation. We hope that the decision sets a precedent and deters similar unsubstantiated class action suits against other high technology companies."
Silicon Graphics Inc. is a leading manufacturer of visual computing systems. The company delivers three-dimensional graphics, color and real-time motion technologies to the technical and scientific computing marketplace. Silicon Graphics Inc. has offices worldwide and headquarters in Mountain View.
