 LAWRENCE S. KASH NAMED EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AT MELLON BANK
 PITTSBURGH, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Lawrence S. Kash has been named executive vice president and head of private banking, Frank V. Cahouet, chairman, president and chief executive officer, announced today.
 In his new position, Kash will be responsible for establishing and managing The Mellon Private Bank, which will provide trust and investment management, estate planning, personal credit, deposit accounts and other services to high net worth clients. The Mellon Private Bank, which is expected to be fully operational in early 1993, will combine the resources, capabilities and client bases of Mellon's Private Clients and Custom Banking units.
 "Although Mellon already is a leader in providing banking services to the affluent market, The Mellon Private Bank will enable us to bring the sum of our capabilities to these customers in a more coordinated fashion," said Cahouet. "We are fortunate to have Larry lead this important effort."
 Prior to this appointment, Kash served as senior vice president and head of Mellon's Private Clients Group, which is responsible for all personal asset management functions, with more than $25 billion under management and control.
 Before joining Mellon, Kash served as executive vice president and director of Marketing and the Consumer Products Group at PaineWebber, Inc. Kash joined Mellon in 1988 as a senior vice president in the Trust and Investment Department.
 A native of Perry County, Kentucky, Kash holds a J.D. degree from the George Washington University Law School and an A.B. degree from Bucknell University. He is a member of the Florida Bar Association and a member of the board of directors of Family House, located in Pittsburgh. Kash and his wife, Sheila, reside in Fox Chapelm, Pa.
