 LASERTECHNICS ESTABLISHES CYTOGENETICS VAR
 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Lasertechnics, Inc.

(NASDAQ: LASX) today announced that it has established Amgenics of Herzelia, Israel, as a value added reseller (VAR) for the cytogenetics market.
Amgenics is a leading developer of computerized aids for cytogenetic laboratories. Its Karyotec 2000 and KaryoSearch systems are used in hospitals, universities and commercial laboratories throughout the world. In making this announcement, Louis F. Bieck, president of Lasertechnics, stated, "We are very excited about our relationship with Amgenics. Their state-of-the-art systems will further enhance our position as the hardcopy system of choice in the cytogenetic market throughout the world."
The Karyotec 2000 is an image processing system which provides for the capturing and analyzing of images of chromosomes in cells. Its most popular uses are in detecting chromosome abnormalities in fetuses through amniocentesis, in examining blood chromosomes and in studying various types of cancer in bone marrow and solid tumors. The Karyotec 2000 also can be used in research and commercial applications of botanical and animal chromosome analysis.
The KaryoSearch is a sophisticated system for identifying hard-to- find cells which have entered into metaphase and are ready to be examined. It includes a microscope, equipped with an automatic moving XY stage, automatic focusing device and an automatic light adjustment sub-system. The KaryoSearch is designed to save the laboratory hundreds of hours of manual searching for metaphases. Being a fully automated system, the KaryoSearch can find metaphases overnight, and thus allow the cytogeneticist to start chromosome analysis immediately upon arrival at the laboratory.
The KaryoSearch and Karyotec systems can be networked to form a complete system of a metaphase finder and a chromosome analyzing device. Either the individual components or the complete system can be linked to the Lasertechnics DIR Gray Scale Printer for hardcopy.
The Lasertechnics DIR prints high resolution, continuous tone images that rival a conventional photograph at a fraction of the cost of competitive imaging processes like instant film or photography. At a maximum 2048 X 27772 lines X 256 gray levels, these high quality digital photographs ensure the highest standards of visual quality and presentation.
