LASERSCOPE REJECTS ALLEGATIONS OF PATENT INFRINGEMENT
SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Laserscope (NASDAQ: LSCP) today rejected allegations made in a press release by a competitor, Surgical Laser Technologies Inc. (SLT). SLT has issued a release alleging patent infringement and unfair competition.
SLT's announcement states that the suit was filed in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. However, the suit has not yet been served on Laserscope.
Rodney Perkins, Laserscope chairman and CEO, said "the allegations are without merit." Perkins added, "We believe that SLT's patents are not valid and that our products and services do not infringe."
Laserscope, a leading producer of surgical systems, designs manufactures and markets an advanced line of KTP/532(TM) and KTP/YAG(TM) lasers, related accessories and disposables. Laserscope's systems are exceptionally well-suited to applications in a wide range of surgical specialties.
