 ON HIGH SPEED COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY
 MINNEAPOLIS, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- LaserMaster Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: LMTS), Minneapolis-based manufacturer of high speed and high performance printing and typesetting products, announced today that it has filed for patents on a new technology for high sped data communications. LaserMaster's new technology uses standard parallel port hardware, already found on virtually every personal computer, in combination with proprietary LaserMaster software and a new LaserMaster connection added to selected printers and other peripheral devices to make data communication speeds up to 10 times faster. Parallel communications are commonly used to connect computers to laser and other printers.
 Larry Lukis, LaserMaster's chief technical officer, called the invention an important advance in printing technology, "We call our technology LPV because it allows a computer's standard parallel or 'Line Printer' connection to communicate data at the 'Video' rates required to keep up with a laser printer in real time." Previously, advanced printing architecture required special hardware to be installed in the user's computer in order to avoid the communications bottleneck of conventional printer connections. Since no modification to existing computer hardware is required, the LPV invention will allow LaserMaster's leading-edge host-based printing technology to address a broader range of users who want to achieve software based high speed printing without modifying their own computers.
 The software technology leverages features of the Microsoft Windows operating environment. According to Mel Masters, LaserMaster's CEO, "There are currently more than 12,000,000 users of Microsoft Windows, with an additional 10,000,000 projected to switch to Windows in the foreseeable future. LPV is important because it will help make fast, inexpensive printing from Windows available to this market."
 Masters indicated that LPV technology will be available in future LaserMaster printing products and is immediately available for license to printer and peripheral device manufacturers.
 LaserMaster Technologies, Inc., designs, manufactures and markets high resolution, high performance printing systems for the microcomputer market. The LaserMaster product line features the company's proprietary patented TurboRes(R) resolution enhancement technology.
