 LASERDISC GIANT IMAGE ENTERTAINMENT EXPANDS OPERATIONS;
 HIRES INDUSTRY VETERAN WENDY MOSS
 CHATSWORTH, Calif., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Martin W. Greenwald, chairman and chief executive officer of Image Entertainment Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: DISK), one of the largest licensees and distributors of programming on laserdisc in the United States, announced today the appointment of Wendy Moss as senior vice president. Moss, who served in a similar capacity at Hanna-Barbera Home Video, will be primarily responsible for the coordination of all sales and marketing activities of the company, including integration of new programming into the company's sales stream and expansion of the company's existing dealer base. Moss will report directly to Greenwald.
 Greenwald said, "The addition of Wendy Moss as senior vice president brings to Image a 12-year veteran in the home video industry. At Hanna-Barbera Home Video, Wendy developed innovative marketing strategies, expanded its dealer network and generally built Hanna-Barbera Home Video into a major force in children's programming. Further, Wendy recently concluded a six-month study for Image which identified new opportunities in alternative programming and culminated in a comprehensive business plan. Wendy's extensive familiarity with emerging optical laser technologies, particularly CD-ROM and CD-I, was a key factor in our hiring her for the newly created position of senior vice president."
 Moss' appointment will enable Lee H. Kasper, the company's executive vice president, to concentrate on new business development. Kasper, who helped forge recent manufacturing and investment agreements with trading giants Mitsubishi Corp. and Mitsui & Co. Ltd., will focus his energies on and assume responsibility for the creation, development and acquisition of new programming, international marketing and identification of strategic partners. "Lee Kasper has a proven track record in Image's international business dealings. In addition to the Mitsubishi and Mitsui deals, Lee has spearheaded the company's development of karaoke 'sing-along' programming. These new business opportunities are a vital component in Image's long-term growth strategy," stated Greenwald.
 Greenwald added, "I am confident that as laserdisc player penetration and consumer acceptance of laserdisc and other emerging technology formats grow, so will Image's domestic and international marketing opportunities. We have broadened our operational focus and strengthened our senior management team to capitalize on this positive environment."
 In addition to the new appointments, Greenwald, noting that Image intends to enhance its allure as a "one-stop" source of laserdisc programming, stated, "We are continuing to add exclusive and non- exclusive titles to our library of available product to make it the largest, most diverse source of laserdisc programming in the country. In addition, we have recently invested significant resources in a state-of-the-art automated warehouse system designed to provide faster, more accurate and more cost-efficient service for our customers.
 "We are encouraged about the future of the laserdisc market. The sale of laserdisc player hardware continues to expand, with industry analyst, Paul Kagan Associates Inc., estimating that there will be a 40 percent increase in the installed base of player households from 1992 to 1993. As more hardware enters the marketplace, the demand for software should track accordingly," said Greenwald.
 Summing up recent events, Greenwald concluded, "We have incredibly talented people at Image. By strengthening senior management with an executive of Wendy's experience and caliber, and directing Lee's focus to new business development, we will enable our people to grow. Image is now better positioned to take advantage of the expanding laserdisc market and a multitude of new opportunities."
 Image Entertainment has an estimated 35 percent share of the domestic laserdisc software market. The company has the most extensive library of titles and exclusive licensing and distribution agreements with some of the most important suppliers of movies, music videos and specialty programming, including Disney's Buena Vista Home Video, FoxVideo, Hanna-Barbera Home Video, Playboy Home Video and Turner Home Video. The company's common stock trades on the NASDAQ National Market System (Symbol: DISK).
