LASER TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCES POSITIVE EARNINGS OUTLOOK

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Laser Technology, Inc. (AMEX: LSR) today announced that based on the current and anticipated level of business activity, management expects an improvement in sales and earnings in fiscal 1993, compared with a year ago. "These results are expected despite the absence of a large anticipated European order in the June quarter," stated David Williams, resident.
Mr. Williams added, "The outlook for fiscal 1994 is very positive. In addition to expected continued growth in sales of our flagship product, the LTI 20-20 Laser Speed Detection System, we have three major development projects underway, which should have a positive impact on financial results next year. Interest in these new systems is high."
 These projects are as follows:
-- In cooperation with Laser Technology International, LTI's Australian distributor, development of a Photo Laser System has been completed. This unique device builds on LTI's expertise in speed detection by integrating a camera with the 20-20 Laser Speed Gun. When the Photo Laser System detects a speeding vehicle, it takes a picture of the vehicle and prints the speed, time, and date on the picture. The violator is then mailed a ticket. The company believes that markets exist for this product in Europe, Australia and the Far East. Initial shipments will be made in 30 to 40 days to distributors to initiate marketing of the system. The expected selling price of the system is $35,000 to $40,000.
-- The company, in a cooperative effort with Exxon Corporation (NYSE: XON) and O'Conner Engineering (a private company) have initiated the development of a cost-effective ship-docking system. This dock-based system assists crews in docking maneuvers by accurately measuring the closing speed a nd distance from ship to dock and then transmits the data to the ship's captain. A prototype of this system is expected in six to nine months, with production to follow shortly thereafter. The expected price of the system is $50,000 to $75 ,0 , which is at least one-third the cost of similar systems already on the market.
-- Through Conterra Systems' (a private company) "Touchdown" software, an interface between the company's Criterion Series Laser and a Trimble Global Positioning System, a product of Trimble Navigation, Ltd., (NASDAQ: TRMB) has been completed. The GPS system, which uses satellites in geosynchronous orbit for pinpointing the locations of objects, is used in mapping, surveying and marine navigation. The combined systems increase the productivity of surveyors, utility engineers and others. LTI has begun marketing its Criterion Series Lasers and GPS software interface to distributors of Trimble's navigation systems. The selling price of the Criterion and "Touchdown" software (GPS interface) is approximately $12,000 per system.
Laser Technology, Inc. manufactures and markets laser speed and distance measurement instruments, which use proprietary technology developed by the company. The LTI 20-20 Laser Speed Detection System is used by law enforcement agencies primarily to monitor vehicle speed and has several advantages over traditional radar speed measurement devices. The company also manufactures the LTI Criterion Series Lasers, a device designed to help forestry professionals, surveyors and engineers measure accurately and quickly tree diameters and heights, as well as survey roads, hiking trails and other mapping applications.
